Sustainability in Action: Power to Connect at the King’s Climate & Sustainability Fair 🌍

Last week, the Power to Connect team had the pleasure of attending the King’s Climate & Sustainability Fair. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase how our circular economy model works and why it is so vital for both our planet and our local community.

What is a Circular Economy? 🔄

At its heart, a circular economy is about moving away from the “take-make-waste” model. Instead of letting old technology sit in a drawer or end up in a bin, we ensure it stays in use.

When you donate laptops in the UK through our program, we:

  1. Collect donated devices from individuals and businesses.
  2. Refurbish them to a high standard, effectively acting as a computer recycling charity.
  3. Redistribute them to schools, families, and community groups across Wandsworth.

Making a Measurable Impact 📈

The environmental benefits of recycling electrical items are staggering. To date, we have:

  • Saved 5,500 laptops from going to landfill.
  • Avoided an estimated 1.5 million kg of CO₂ emissions.

By choosing to recycle computers near me through Power to Connect, residents are directly helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the borough while promoting digital inclusion.

Education and Volunteering 🤝

It was inspiring to meet so many students at the fair who were eager to learn about digital literacy courses in the UK and how they can get involved. We are incredibly grateful to King’s Volunteering for hosting us.

If you are a student or a local resident looking for volunteering in Wandsworth, helping us refurbish devices or supporting our digital skills courses is a great way to gain experience while helping the environment.
