Looking Forward: Our Strategy Day and the Next Chapter for Power to Connect
Earlier this month, our team and trustee board took some well-deserved time to step back from day-to-day delivery. Our goal? To reflect on our journey so far and map out exactly where Power to Connect is heading next.
We left the session feeling incredibly grateful for everything our community has achieved together, and even more excited about what the next year holds!
The Growing Urgency of Digital Inclusion in an AI Era
At a time when so much of daily life is moving online – and increasingly being shaped by rapid advancements in AI – the need for true digital inclusion feels more urgent than ever. Without the right tools and knowledge, too many people risk being left behind in a rapidly evolving world.
Over the past year, we have continued to grow our local footprint through device distribution, face-to-face digital support, and lively community drop-ins. Looking ahead, our strategy day highlighted five key themes that will define our roadmap:
- Expanding Device Access: Getting more high-quality hardware and reliable connectivity to those who need it most.
- Deepening Alliances: Building stronger community and charity partnerships, alongside corporate collaborations.
- An Evolving Skills Journey: Developing clearer pathways for learners, with a specific focus on AI literacy and online safety.
- Evidencing Success: Improving how we capture data for robust impact reporting to showcase our long-term social value.
- Scaling Our Model: Exploring how our setup could support even more communities in the future.
We also focused heavily on sustainability—not just financial resilience, but ensuring our staff, volunteers, and local networks are supported for the long haul.
Bridging the Gap: Skills, Training, and Free Tech
As we look to expand our educational offerings, we remain committed to providing the fundamental digital literacy courses uk residents rely on. From a gentle basic it skills course for beginners to advanced digital skills courses, our goal is to build genuine digital confidence. We want to ensure that everyone in our community can access free digital skills training uk initiatives to unlock new employment and educational opportunities.
Of course, training requires technology. To keep our pipeline of devices flowing, we rely on people choosing to donate laptops uk wide, turning old tech into a tool for social good.
How Businesses Can Partner for Planet and Purpose
Our ambitious goals for the coming year open up fantastic avenues for businesses looking to enhance their corporate social responsibility. By aligning with Power to Connect, companies can seamlessly meet their internal sustainability goals and elevate their ESG strategy.
We offer a dual-impact solution for corporate partners. First, we act as a trusted computer recycling charity. Instead of just searching for recycle computers near me, businesses can hand over their retired IT kit to us. We handle the process safely, turning potential e-waste into refurbished laptops for charity while supporting your environmental sustainability targets.
Second, we offer rewarding corporate volunteering opportunities that drive employee engagement and deliver measurable community impact. It’s a powerful, practical way to execute a modern CSR strategy and prove your commitment to being a responsible business.
