Empowering Wandsworth with Our IT Volunteers

Behind the Scenes: Empowering Wandsworth with Our IT Volunteers

Every Tuesday morning, a dedicated group of IT volunteers gathers to tackle the digital divide. These “Tech Prep Heroes” take unused tech and give it a second life, ensuring it reaches local families who need it most. If you’ve been searching for laptops for charity or a way to donate laptops in the UK, our workshop is where that magic happens.

What Happens in the Workshop?

Refurbishing a device is a detailed process that turns “old” tech into a fresh start. Our team’s work is a vital part of digital inclusion in our borough, featuring:

  • Wiping & Data Security: Ensuring every donated device is cleared and safe.
  • Essential Software: Installing tools that help users access digital literacy courses in the UK.
  • Safety First: Conducting PAT testing and deep cleaning.
  • Hardware Repairs: Swapping out parts to keep tech out of landfills and in the hands of the community.

Supporting Local Digital Skills

We don’t just provide hardware; we help people use it. By supporting our work, you’re helping residents find their way to a basic IT skills course for free or specialized digital skills courses that open doors to new opportunities. We often signpost our users to resources at Wandsworth LibraryBattersea Library, and Southfields Library to ensure they have continued support.
