5,003 Devices Donated… And Counting! A Huge Milestone for Digital Inclusion in Wandsworth
We’re thrilled to announce an exciting milestone at Power to Connect:
5,003 laptops, tablets and phones have now been donated – and over 4,500 of these have already been redistributed back into the Wandsworth community.
These devices are helping local residents stay connected, access essential services, learn new skills and open doors to new opportunities. From job applications and online banking to virtual GP appointments and completing homework, access to a working device can truly transform someone’s life.
Why Device Donations Matter
Digital exclusion is still a major challenge in London. Many people simply don’t have access to the technology they need for everyday life. That’s why initiatives like ours – supported by residents, schools, businesses and community partners – are so important.
As a computer recycling charity, we securely wipe and refurbish donated devices so they can be passed on to families, older residents, jobseekers and young people who need them most.
This not only bridges the digital divide, but also prevents tonnes of recycling electrical items from ending up in landfill.
Powered by Volunteers
Behind every refurbished laptop is the dedication of our incredible volunteer team.
Our IT volunteers and delivery drivers are the heartbeat of our organisation. They ensure every device is safely wiped, repaired, and delivered to people across Battersea, Southfields and the wider borough.
If you’re interested in volunteering in Wandsworth, whether at Battersea Library, Southfields Library, or in our tech workshop, we’d love to welcome you to the team! You can sign up here.
Supporting Digital Skills and Online Confidence
Providing devices is only one part of the solution. We’re equally committed to helping residents build confidence using technology. Through our community hub partners, we support access to digital skills courses, including basic IT skills courses (free) and digital literacy courses in the UK.
Many of these sessions take place in community spaces like Wandsworth Library, where people can get one-to-one support and guidance. We also help promote free digital skills training through our Digital Drop-Ins and partner organisations.
Help Us Reach the Next 5,000
This milestone is not the end – it’s a reminder of the ongoing need across our community. Thousands of households still lack the devices or digital confidence needed to fully participate in today’s online world.
If you or your organisation have unused laptops, tablets, phones or other digital equipment, you can make a real difference.
